Experimental study on antibacterial effect of medical corrugated paper

2024/1/4

Medical corrugated paper is a kind of special corrugated paper used for packaging medical equipment for disinfection. The disinfection medium can pass through, but bacteria can't, which avoids all kinds of cross-contamination and greatly reduces the comprehensive use cost. Medical corrugated paper is the packaging material to replace cloth and is also the development direction. Experiments were carried out on its bacteriostatic effect, which is introduced as follows.

1 materials and methods

1.1 The materials are packed with crepe paper and double-layer cloth respectively, and the blades, sewing needle bags, sewing cutting bags, puncture bags and sewing bags are 160 each, divided into 8 groups with 20 bags in each group. The chemical indicator cards in the package were put in the package with 3m high-pressure steam sterilization, and the package was sealed with 3m high-pressure steam sterilization tape for high-pressure steam sterilization at 134℃ for 4 min for 5 times.

1.2 Bacterial detection The sterilized and stored equipment packages were sampled and cultured at different time periods, and each group was tested with 15 bags of equipment (3 bags of 5 types of equipment) at a time. The detection period of the pressure steam sterilization group was 15 d, 30 d, 90 d and 180 d after sterilization. The method of bacterial sampling and culture was carried out in accordance with the requirements of "Monitoring the Effect of Disinfection and Sterilization in Hospitals" issued by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China in 2002.

1.3 Effect Determination: The sterilized equipment shall be marked with sterilization date and stored in the sterile goods storage room, where the temperature is 20℃ 2℃ and the relative humidity is 50% ~ 70%. When the medical corrugated paper is well packaged after sterilization, it is found that the same batch of equipment is kept sterile in a certain period, which indicates the sterilization effect of packaging materials during this period.

2 discussion

The ideal medical packaging material needs to resist bacteria, and the sterile equipment will not be contaminated by bacteria outside the package for a long time; At the same time, packaging materials are also required to have good permeability to sterilization factors, without affecting the sterilization effect of sterilization factors on bacteria and microorganisms on the equipment in the package. Medical corrugated packaging paper has formed a unique barrier because of its special porous arrangement, which effectively isolates bacteria and other microorganisms, so it can be preserved for a long time without pollution. This study shows that corrugated paper has a better barrier effect against bacteria than cotton cloth; At the same time, the corrugated packaging paper is soft, convenient and safe to use. Table 1 Negative results of bacterial detection in storage period of corrugated paper packaging Table 2 Negative results of bacterial detection in storage period of cotton packaging.

As a sterilized packaging material, conventional cotton cloth can be washed and ironed repeatedly, which easily leads to sparse cloth holes and even small holes that are not easily detected by naked eyes, which leads to the failure of packaging to isolate bacteria. Therefore, the shelf life of sterile articles packed with cotton cloth is only 7 d to 14 d. At the same time, repeated cleaning will increase the number of microvilli on cotton cloth, which is a tool for bacteria to spread and migrate in the air. Especially in the process of clinical surgery and dressing change, microvilli can be shaken and floated in the air, which can directly float on the wound, causing iatrogenic infection. Medical green crepe paper solves all kinds of disadvantages of cotton bag, and the micro-fluff on crepe paper is much smaller than that on cotton bag, which obviously reduces the chance of bacterial transmission.

Medical corrugated paper is used as sterilization packaging material, and the blades, stitches, puncture bags and suture bags tested with medical corrugated paper as sterilization packaging material in this experiment still have no bacterial growth on the 180th day after sterilization. Medical corrugated paper not only greatly improves the effective storage time of sterilized articles, reduces manpower and material resources to varying degrees, saves hospital resources, and avoids the unfavorable factors brought by the recovery, cleaning and reuse of cloth, but also plays a certain role in controlling the occurrence of hospital infection. Compared with traditional cotton cloth, medical corrugated paper has the following advantages: ① the validity period of aseptic storage is long; ② The bacteria resistance of aseptic materials is relatively improved; ③ Sterilization effect of articles. To sum up, medical corrugated paper packaging has good sterilization and bacteria resistance effects, and its packaging cost is lower than that of cotton packaging, which is worth popularizing and applying.
